有机硅MS密封胶在装配式建筑中真正发挥作用,关键在于与混凝土、金属窗框、石材这些建筑材料能否紧密、有效的结合。MS密封胶在施工时呈膏状,能够慢慢渗人到材料表面的缝隙和凹凸处把缝隙“填满”并牢牢固定住,从而起到加固和密封的作用;MS密封胶中的活性成分能与基材表面的分子产生相互作用力,从而抵抗外力、防止与基材脱开。然而,建筑基材本身并非完全惰性。以最常用的混凝土为例,其内部存在可溶性盐分,随着时间的推移盐分慢慢迁移到界面区域,在MS密封胶和混凝土之间制造缝隙,破坏原有的粘结。而金属表面即使经过处理,在潮湿环境中也会发生缓慢的腐蚀,生成的氧化物性质与原始表面不同,导致MS密封胶“抓不住”它。因此,有机硅MS密封胶与基材的相容性是一个涉及物理贴合、化学作用并能长期抵抗环境侵蚀和应力破坏的综合能力,直接决定了密封寿命的长短。
