裂解料:是以回收的废硅橡胶裂解处理，得到的二甲基环硅氧烷混合物为原料制成。裂解料相比原生料价格更有优势，因此采用裂解料的MS密封胶相比采用原生料的MS密封胶，其配方成本更低。但裂解料杂质含量高，批次间波动性难以控制，影响MS密封胶的品质和稳定性，耐老化性能明显下降。

高沸硅油:是以甲基氯硅烷混合单体经过精馏制得的高沸物为主要原料，再经醇解或水解工艺制得，主要成分为聚甲基硅氧烷混合物，呈色混杂，包含大约30多种硅烷混合物，杂质含量高，分子结构和化学成分不同于二甲基硅油，且含有Si-H键等显著影响到MS密封胶耐久性的活性基团，极容易造成MS密封胶力学性能、粘结性能和耐老化性能急剧下降。

矿物油:也称为“白油”，是石油的馏分，主要是由直链烷烃组成，分子结构与有机硅基础聚合物有本质性的差异，且不具备稳定的化学键，容易大幅度缩短MS密封胶的使用寿命。但由于其单价较低，相当部分厂家用矿物油来代替一部分有机硅基础聚合物从而达到降低配方成本的目的。这些填充了白油的MS密封胶耐老化性能很难达到工程使用要求，在较短时间内，矿物油就会从MS密封胶中迁移出来，继而出现胶体变硬、失去弹性的问题，甚至还会发生MS密封胶开裂、脱粘等问题。

另外，从MS密封胶生产方面来说，生产厂家的配方工艺不合理，生产工艺技术落后，或者对生产过程的质量管控差，最终都会生产出品质低劣，耐久性能差的MS密封胶。

质量差的MS密封胶在实际工程中表现不佳，出现性能下降，甚至危害幕墙安全的情况，可能的原因是设计不当、选用的MS密封胶材料质量差、施工不规范或维护管理不当。
